Wireless network planning

STEP offers services for 1) initial dimensioning and planning of new networks, 2) ongoing optimization of existing networks and 2) analysis of the electromagnetic field produced by wireless networks. Therefore, the product is suitable both for telecommunication providers aiming at optimizing their time-to-revenue, with high quality of service and limited costs, and for electromagnetic pollution control authorities.

The following services are provided:

  • Estimation of electric field levels in a given geographical area thanks to:
    • Terrain typology modelling;
    • Radiating source modelling (analysis and acquisition of antenna datasheets);
    • Radio propagation model selection depending on terrain types and targeted wireless systems;
    • Validation of estimated electric field values by comparing them with measured values;
  • Wireless network optimization
    • Optimization parameters:
      • Base station location;
      • Height of each radiating element;
      • Radio-electric parameters of each radiating element:
        • Transmitted power;
        • Transmitting antenna gain;
        • Maximum directional antenna gain (horizontal plane);
